The following information is about AIDS.
AIDS Defined
(Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) The most severe manifestation of infection with HIV. There are numerous opportunistic infections and neoplasms (cancers) that, in the presence of HIV infection, constitute an AIDS diagnosis. Persons with these late-stage infections can suffer attacks of the lung, brain, eyes, and other organs, as well as severe weight loss.
