Endometrial Cancer Defined

Cancer of the endometrium. Endometrial cancer is caused by estrogen without sufficient progesterone. Being overweight, having anovulatory androgen excess and diabetes mellitus are risk factors. Estrogen treatment without progesterone therapy as well is a major cause. It is usually preceded by persistent endometrial proliferation and endometrial hyperplasia (both of which are reversible with progesterone therapy).
