Inhibin Defined

The name for several protein hormones made by the ovaries. Inhibins regulate within the ovary and control the production of FSH. Inhibin B decreases early in perimenopause and is thought to be responsible for the endogenous perimenopausal ovarian hyperstimulation that may occur.
